Billboards, Benefit Show, and Building a Better Tennessee!
A big thank you to everyone who donated to our Rocky Top, not Rocky Roads billlboard campaign! And, if you live in Nashville, a very cool event next week for you!
Thank you so much for supporting the "Rocky Top, Not Rocky Roads" campaign! Because of your generosity, we placed three billboards in target districts, putting significant pressure on the Republican supermajority as we approach the November election. Our billboards have sparked A LOT of bipartisan discussion across the state about why our road conditions are so poor. You can watch a segment from our recent press conference by clicking here.
But there’s still work to be done, and I’m excited to invite you to a special event for those in Nashville.
Join us for an inspiring night next Thursday, October 24th of storytelling with That Woman: The Monologue Show, a collaborative performance by some of Nashville’s most talented playwrights and actors. "That Woman" is a captivating exploration of the often-overlooked women connected to one of America's most iconic presidents: John F. Kennedy.
Through deeply emotional monologues, the play highlights a diverse range of female experiences, from burlesque performers to First Ladies, reclaiming narratives often dismissed with derogatory labels. With honest and intimate portrayals, "That Woman" sheds light on the resilience and complexity of these women, offering a poignant commentary on the historical double standards that have shaped their legacies.
I’m so grateful for these incredible women who are generously donating their talents to create an evening that promises to be educational, enlightening, and entertaining. This is not just an event; it’s a celebration of women’s voices, power, and resilience.
Finally, thank you to everyone who donated to fund our statewide canvassing program. We’ve knocked over 2,000 doors in target districts, supporting fantastic candidates and having honest conversations with voters about ending the grocery tax and supporting public schools. Here are some pictures from our recent trip to Memphis!
Thank you again for standing with me and with the people of Tennessee.
In gratitude,
Aftyn
